Wellington Masonic Lodge #127 located in Wellington, Ohio held their June meeting with a special recognition and award ceremony honoring Former Fire Chief Robert Walker. Accompanying Chief Walker was his wife Sandy and their daughter Robin. Other invited guests were Assistant Fire Chief Jim Clark and his wife Kathy and Former Police Chief Morris Furcron. The guests were greeted by Worshipful Brother Scott Markel, the current Master of Wellington Lodge and his wife Michele, and Right Worshipful Brother David Hildebrandt and his wife Julie. Right Worshipful Brother Hildebrandt is the personal representative of Kevin B. Todd, Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons in Ohio.
This special award “The Community Builders Award” was presented to Chief Walker for his dedication and commitment to the Village of Wellington and its residents. Chief Walker served the village for over 39 years, of which 21 years was as their Fire Chief. He was instrumental in the modernization of the Wellington Fire District. His department was dedicated to professionalism, community service and training. The high expectations placed upon the Wellington fire District officers and members led to many achieving higher certification levels than required.
Following the presentation Worshipful Brother Markel introduced and presented our special guest speaker Mr. Alan Leiby, a local author who talked about his involvement in preserving pictures and documents for the Spirit of 76 Museum and of his new book “Memory Lane Wellington,Ohio”.You may also follow Memory Lane,Wellington,Ohio on Facebook.
